Health Services
School Nurse: lauren.terrarosa@edison.k12.nj.us
The school nurse operates the health clinic. In addition to handling all school medical emergencies and health concerns, she administers medications, manages all required medical paperwork and conducts various health screenings. Emergency care in the school is limited to first aid for accidents or illness that occur in school or on the way to school. In the event of an accident or sudden illness in school, parents/guardians or alternate contacts are notified of the health emergency so that the child may be taken home or to a physician. The school cannot provide transportation.
*In extreme emergencies, the local First Aid Squad will be called.
In the interest of your child’s health, as well as the health of other students, it is suggested that you should keep your child home if he/she has the following symptoms:
Fever (100°F or higher)
Vomiting
Heavy coughing
Severe headache, diarrhea, and/or stomach cramps
Please inform the nurse promptly of any special health problems. Contact the nurse with any questions or to schedule a confidential appointment.
The district requires all new pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children to have a physical: HS form 16.
Additionally, all new students to the district (K-5) entering from out of state require a physical. We encourage you to have your family doctor perform the physical examination since he/she is familiar with your child’s health history.
A student will be excluded from school if they are not in compliance with vaccination requirements and if such proof is not provided to the school.
